This is an exhaustive study that investigates into the lived experiences of police managers in the execution of anti-drug operation programs namely: Oplan Tokhang program buy-bust operation, drug raid and dangerous drug awareness campaign in Southern Leyte, Philippines. It sought answers to the queries about how the informants conduct the anti-drug operation program~ hon did the informants apply strategies in solving issues and concerns in the conduct of anti-drug operation programs, and what is the impact of anti-drug operations to the community.<br/><br/> Qualitative research design with phenomenological approach was employed with the support of a semi-structured interview guide. Informants were selected using purposive random sampling techniques. The data were analysed utilizing the Colaizzi's strategy of descriptive phenomenological data analysis wherein emergent themes defined the informant's lived experiences.<br/><br/>The researcher created nine emergent themes that described the lived experiences of the informants namely: Make it Right to Be Might, Know Your Enemy: Be Aware of the Law on Supply and Demand; and Shaping Up Those Who Gave Up. In strategies applied in the conduct of anti-drug operation programs., I derived two themes, namely; Leading Rightly, Gaining Trust; and Choosing tile Right People for the Job. For the impact of anti-drug operation programs to the community, three themes were created; Restoring Peaceful Community; Restoring Change. Redeeming Difference; and, Instilling Fear, Reducing lawlessness.<br/><br/>The study recommended the following namely: exhaustive evaluation and revision of existing programs of !he government pertaining rehabilitation and treatment<br/>of drug personalities, in-house training of police personnel's regarding the legal parameters in the conduct of OpJan Tokhang program, a quarterly in-house seminar and or trainings on matters pertaining to the conduct. of operations, particularly the Police Operational Procedure and all governinglaws, protocols and procedures regarding illegal drugs, Local Government Unit (LGU) shall support the Philippine National Police (PNP) in their quest against illegal drugs more importantly in budgetary aspects, and strict inclusion of drug education in all institutions in the country. |
