520 | _aLeadership is one of the most important and challenging roles in every organization. However, leading a team or an organization is not an easy task. Thus, this study was conducted to determine the leadership styles of the Police Station Commanders in Baguio City and Benguet Province. The quantitative descriptive-survey research was used to gather information about the study. All 10 police station commanders from Baguio City and 13 police station commanders from Benguet Province were the respondents of the study. Total enumeration was utilized in the study. Data were gathered using a checklist questionnaire and informal interview to validate the responses of the respondents. Chi-square test for independence and Fisher Exact Test were applied in data analysis. The results showed that the majority (73.9%) of the station commanders in Baguio City Police Office and the Benguet Police Provincial Office had a democratic style of leadership. It was found that there was no significant difference in the leadership style of the station commanders according to their commissionship. Majority of the Police station commanders identified their leadership strengths on the category of democratic and laissez-faire leadership styles. However, nearly half (47°) of the respondents did not match their weaknesses based on their leadership styles. The identified challenges encountered by the 4 police station commanders in Baguio City and 2 police station commanders in Benguet Province affected their everyday routine and overall performance in administrative and operational functions. The researcher recommends that the police station commanders enhance their leadership qualities especially in handling personnel in maintaining the healthy environment in their office. | ||
