This study determined the predictors of performance in the criminology
licensure examination by criminology graduates of the University of Eastern
Descriptive-correlational and documentary analysis methods of research
were used in this study. A complete enumeration of 251 criminology graduates
and 10 criminology faculty members were involved as respondents. Informal
interview and documentary analysis were the primary sources of data. Frequency
counts, percentage and weighted mean, chi-square, and standardized deviation
were utilized as the statistical tools.
Results on the comparative percentage of attendance to criminology
review classes revealed that a greater number of criminology-graduate
respondents did not attend review classes; the general weighted average of
criminology graduates from Batch 2012 to Batch 2017 was good; majority of
X
them had an average intelligence quotient test; and a greater number of them
resided outside the municipality. Majority of criminology-faculty-respondents
served for one to five years; majority of them are holders of master's degrees in
other fields of specialization; and most of them have the rank of an instructor but
have permanent appointments.
It was likewise revealed that the department operation was manned by
competent personnel and there was a strong organizational structure. The school
provides support to the students and faculty members. The overall passing
percentages of the criminology licensure examination were declining from
academic year 2015 and in the succeeding years. The number of years in service
and highest educational attainment of the criminology faculty members showed
significant predictiori on their students' performance in the criminology licensure
examination.
