The study explored the lived experiences of police officers • the
implementation of the Philippine National Police anti - drug operation
program. It answers the experiences of the police officers involved in drug
operation and the strategies applied in solving the issues and challenges they
encountered including its effect on the personal and official career of the
police officers.
he study utilized the qualitative interview method where the
informants of the study were the police officers who were involved in anti -
drug operation in Southern Leyte. There were ten ( 10) police officers involved
or assigned in drug operation as informants of the study. A purposive
sampling was used in selecting the informants who were from top three
municipal police stations in Southern Leyte having the most number of drug
operations conducted. An interview guide question was prepared for the
individual interview and focused group discussion.
The researcher after analyzing the responses of the informants. created
the themes that addressed the sub - problems of the study. For the lived
experiences of the informants in the conduct of drug operation, the researcher
came up with following emergent themes: Feeling Great When There's a
Catch, Facing Tall and Hard Wall and Being Uncooperative.
For the strategy applied by the informants in solving the issues and
challenges encountered in the drug operation, the following were the emergent
themes: Having the Police Initiative and Securing an Effective Plan. For the
effect of operation in the personal and professional career ofthe informants in
the drug operation, the following emergent themes came about: Contentment
in the Working Performance, Compromised Personal and Family Security
and Commendation for the Accomplishment.
