The Ifugao State University Swine Production was an Income Generating Project
(IGP) managed by Mr. Nathaniel F. Dimog, IFSU JGP Director. The Swine Production
IGP currently produced two different breeds, the commercially-raised Landrace and
Duroc. The management of the swine production was done manually by counting the
food, medicines and actual head count of pigs for inventories. The caretaker manually
recorded descriptions, category, type, size and quantity of food, medicines and pigs. This
manual process caused unexpected loss of important documents; time consuming in
adding, updating, and retrieving records; unanticipated delay in the delivery of feeds; and
affected sales.
The Swine Sales, Inventory and Monitoring System (eSSIMS) is an application
intended to check the quantity of available products ensuring the number of items stored
was maintained. The application ensured continuous work flow, to have a flexible
production scheduling, and to guarantee high quality of goods during delivery time. The
system also featured a reorder point and asset tracking. This study was committed to
overcome the problems and to improve the process of the swine production.
